This was an incident wherein a Utah Highway Patrol K-9 was deployed on a sniff of a vehicle during a traffic stop. During the sniff, the K-9 jumped through an open window - on its own ititiative & without a command from the Handler - and indicated on the floorboard in the rear passenger area. As the Handler conducted a visual search of the vehicle interior, he located a firearm. The driver was under legal constraint not to have a firearm in his possession and was prosecuted in federal court. .
